9-1-1: Nashville has finally returned, and a new season means exciting new cast members and characters, the first of which fans will meet in 9-1-1: Nashville‘s Season 2 premiere on October 15.
“The 113 responds to a museum overrun by murder hornets, while newcomer Detective Rogue Kelly investigates a series of ominous crimes of biblical proportions. Blythe and Dixie face the consequences of their brawl, and Don pays a price too,” Season 2’s premiere synopsis reads.
So who is Detective Rogue Kelly?
Back in April, Deadline described the new series regular role as follows: “…A brilliant, iconoclastic detective who moves to Nashville from New York. A seductive bad boy with a past, he’ll stir up all kinds of juicy drama with our first responders while leading an investigation into a mysterious criminal tormenting Nashville on a biblical scale.”
With a name like Rogue, who could expect anything less?!
So who plays Detective Rogue Kelly on 9-1-1: Nashville? Here’s what to know about the fresh (but familiar) face on 9-1-1: Nashville Season 2.
Who Plays Detective Rogue Kelly On 9-1-1: Nashville? Meet Ryan Phillippe
Detective Rogue Kelly on 9-1-1: Nashville is played by the one, the only Ryan Phillippe!
The 52-year-old actor, producer, and director is well-known for roles in Cruel Intentions, Shooter, Crash, One Life to Live, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and more major titles. He’s amassed more than 80 film and TV credits since kicking off his on-screen career in 1992, and he’s also appeared in Stop-Loss, The Lincoln Lawyer, Damages, Secrets and Lies, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Big Sky, MacGruber, Motorheads, The Patient, and more. (Never forget he also had a perfect role selling Ryan Phillippe Steaks in I Love That for You. RIP!)
You may also know Phillippe as Reese Witherspoon’s ex-husband. The two were married from 1999 to 2008 and share two kids, Ava and Deacon Phillippe, both of whom are also actors. Ava made an appearance in the Ryan Murphy-verse in an episode of Doctor Odyssey last year (also RIP). And Deacon has starred in projects like Netflix’s Never Have I Ever and Motorheads alongside his dad. Heck, maybe Phillippe’s kids can even pop by 9-1-1: Nashville one day.
Phillippe will bring even more serious star power to the 9-1-1 spinoff, and his induction into the 9-1-1 universe opens a door for a potential I Know What You Did Last Summer reunion with OG series star Jennifer Love Hewitt. The 9-1-1: Nashville Season 2 star reportedly has a multi-year deal, which means we can officially get attached to Detective Rogue Kelly.
While we wait to learn more about Phillippe’s character, you can stay up-to-date with the actor on Instagram @ryanphillippe.
New episodes of 9-1-1: Nashville Season 2 air Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC with next-day streaming on Hulu.
