A dismissed police official was arrested for failing to appear in the court with regard to a fraud case filed against him by a woman on Wednesday.
A senior official of the city police said Raju was a Sub-Inspector. In 2022, the Mylapore police arrested him for cheating a woman of ₹15 lakh after befriending her.
Raju was subsequently dismissed for misconduct and also arrested. After his release from prison, he failed to appear in the court as required for the ongoing legal proceedings.
When he arrived at the Saidapet Magistrate Court on Wednesday, the magistrate ordered that he be remanded in judicial custody. However, Raju experienced some health issue and was subsequently admitted to the Government Royapettah Hospital.
