2026 is looking to be a period that will shape The Gambia in a direction that many are unable to predict at this very moment. All political forces are becoming entrenched into four major camps.
The NPP is absorbing people who have removed any focus on constitutional reform and term limit. In fact, they are now emhasising continuity.
Secondly, you have the camp of the UDP led coalition that is emphasizing past performance as an opposition force due to numbers.
Aside from these two forces there are two other new camps in the political arena, that is, the camp of Coalition 2026 behind the leader of UNITE and Team Gambia Grand Coalition 2026 that is calling for the overhaul of the entire political system and giving The Gambia a new start.
In addition to these four camps, the APRC breakaway faction calling itself ‘No to Alliance’, who have expressed willingness to join one of the coalitions. It appears the end of October is the decisive time when the Gambian people will tell the world which camp will become the coalition will take the lead.
No political camp owns the Gambia to decide to unite for personal benefit or the benefit of the Gambian people.
