The survey places Wanga, who also serves as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party national chairperson, at 67% in the reported voter preference ratings, giving her a substantial lead over her closest rival, former deputy governor Oyugi Magwanga.
Magwanga trails Wanga at 14%, while other candidates and undecided respondents account for a combined 19%, according to the poll.
Who leads gubernatorial races in Siaya, Kisumu and Migori?
The findings form part of Swiss Poll International’s Luo Nyanza Region County Governors Electability Tracking Report, which examines projected gubernatorial contests in Homa Bay, Siaya, Kisumu and Migori counties as political activity builds towards the 2027 General Election.
In Siaya County, Governor James Orengo leads with 54%, followed by Dr William Oduol at 27%. Other candidates and undecided respondents account for 19%.
Kisumu County presents a more competitive race, with Professor Tom Ojienda leading at 46%, ahead of incumbent Governor Joshua Oron, who is placed at 32%. Other candidates and undecided respondents account for 22%.
Who is likely to be Migori governor in 2027?
The contest appears considerably tighter in Migori County, where MP Mark Nyamita leads with 29%, narrowly ahead of Governor Ochilo Ayacko at 27%. Other candidates and undecided respondents make up 44%, indicating a substantial share of respondents who are either considering other options or remain undecided.
The figures suggest varying levels of competition across the four counties, with Wanga and Orengo holding relatively sizeable leads in their respective races, while the reported standings in Migori point to a much closer contest.
However, the findings represent reported voter preferences at the time of the survey and do not determine the eventual outcome of the 2027 elections.
