Former Imo State Governor and Senator, Rochas Okorocha, has reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
According to The Sun, the former governor was taken into custody on Monday night at REIZ Continental Hotel in central Abuja.
The arrest reportedly followed his failure to honour multiple police invitations in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation, leading to the issuance of a bench warrant for his arrest.
Okorocha was initially invited to appear at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on September 2, 2026. However, the appointment was rescheduled to September 8 following a request from his lawyers, but he allegedly failed to attend on the revised date.
The reported arrest comes days after Okorocha publicly rejected claims that a court had ordered his arrest over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and the use of false documents.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, the former governor dismissed the reports as false.
He also accused the Imo State Government of being behind what he described as misleading information about the alleged court order.

Okorocha subsequently threatened legal action against those responsible for circulating the reports, demanding that they produce the purported court order within 48 hours or retract the claims.
Court Reportedly Issued Bench Warrants
Earlier reports indicated that a Senior Magistrate Court sitting in Abuja had issued bench warrants against Okorocha and former Senator Ifeanyi Araraume over allegations connected to disputed All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election documents.
Two other individuals, Timothy Ama Chuks and Amen Okorocha, were also named in the warrants.
The orders were reportedly issued on September 9, 2026, by Senior Magistrate Court 3 in Jiwa, Abuja, in cases numbered CR/M/JW/084/2026 and CR/M/JW/085/2026.
According to the reported court documents, the proceedings were instituted in the name of the Inspector-General of Police against the four individuals.
The warrants authorised police officers across the country to arrest the named individuals and bring them before the court.
