KARACHI, Oct 24 (APP):Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating polio, declaring that there would be no negligence, complacency or compromise in the fight against the crippling virus.
In his message on World Polio Day, the Chief Minister said that protecting every child in Sindh from polio was the government’s top priority and a national responsibility.
“Polio is a dangerous and incurable disease, but timely vaccination can protect our children from lifelong disability,” he said, stressing that the government was determined to ensure that no child in Sindh remained at risk of the virus.
Murad Ali Shah noted that Pakistan and Afghanistan were the only two countries in the world where wild poliovirus continued to circulate.
While significant progress had been made in containing the spread of the virus, its continued presence in vulnerable areas remained a serious challenge.
He said that the complete eradication of polio was possible only through sustained vaccination efforts, public cooperation and a strong sense of responsibility at every level of society.
The Chief Minister made a special appeal to parents to ensure that every child under the age of five received polio drops during every vaccination campaign.
“Remember, the drops administered during every campaign are a guarantee of your child’s safer future and an important step towards eliminating polio,” he said.
Paying tribute to polio workers, Murad Ali Shah said that they were performing a vital national service under extremely difficult circumstances and described them as guardians of the future of the country’s children.
He urged the public to support polio workers, place their trust in them and cooperate in ensuring that vaccines reached every household.
