Few holiday traditions are as cozy as slipping into a fresh pair of festive pajamas. Whether you’re opening presents, lounging through a movie marathon or posing for the annual family photo, the right set makes the season feel a little more special and a lot more comfortable.

Holiday pajamas have come a long way from scratchy fabrics and novelty prints, too. Today you’ll find soft flannel button-downs, stretchy knit joggers, breathable cotton sets and plush onesies in everything from classic buffalo plaid to playful patterns. With so many options, it can be tough to know which ones are actually worth adding to your cart.

To help, I rounded up the best holiday pajamas for every member of the household, including matching sets for families plus standout styles for women and men. Below, you’ll find picks across a range of prices, fabrics and sizes, along with tips on what to look for as you shop.

Gap’s cheerful ski-print pajamas make it easy to coordinate the whole crew, since the matching collection comes in baby, kid and adult sizes. This button-front set is cut from soft recycled-polyester jersey and features a notch collar. Some styles have contrast piping and a chest pocket embroidered with Gap’s signature Brannan Bear. The pull-on pants have a comfy elastic waist, too.

Target’s Wondershop Hanukkah pajamas feature a blue-and-white plaid with tiny menorahs dotted throughout the pattern. The kids’ set includes a collared, button-down top and elastic-waist pants made from lightweight recycled-polyester flannel. The collection also comes in adult, toddler and baby sizes so the whole family can match, and Wondershop offers other prints, like classic plaids, reindeer Fair Isle and sheep.

Hanna Andersson’s Dr. Seuss Grinch collection lets you build a coordinated look for the entire family, with sizes for babies, kids, women and adults — and even pets. You can mix and match a few festive prints, including a “Merry Grinchmas” design on red, across pajama sets, one-piece jumpsuits and socks, making it a fun pick for holiday mornings full of mornings.

Burt’s Bees Baby makes it easy to outfit the entire family in holiday pajamas, with styles sized from newborn through adult XXL. Babies get zip-up footed sleepers, kids get snug two-piece sets, and adults get ribbed tops and drawstring lounge pants with pockets. Everything is made from GOTS-certified organic cotton, and there’s even a matching bandana for your pet. There are a number of prints available, too — including gingerbread houses, dreidels and holiday cookies.

Little Sleepies is my go-to for pajamas for my kids — everything is made out of the softest bamboo and so cozy. During the holiday season, they offer family pajamas for babies, kids, adults and even dogs. They have a ton of prints available, too — including bows, gingerbread, fair isle and more.

This plaid print is part of Old Navy’s matching family pajamas collection, so everyone can get in on the look in the style that suits them. Grown-ups can choose classic flannel button-up sets for women and men, little ones can stay snug in toddler and baby pajamas, and there are even options for expecting moms.

Another brand I love for my kids, Posh Peanut offers holiday sets for men, women and kids in eight different holiday prints — including Lior, Nutcracker and Father Christmas. The pajamas are made from soft bamboo and are super stretchy (great for fitting over diapers or for adults who may have eaten a big holiday meal).

Lake Pajamas makes some of NBC Selected editors’ favorite pajama sets and their holiday options do not disappoint. They have styles available for men, women, kids and babies. Unlike some of the other brands on the list, they offer a wide variety of items in their prints — including nightgowns and robes.

Petite Plume’s solid red flannel set gets a polished touch from white piping and pearl buttons. It’s made from brushed, yarn-dyed cotton that gets softer with each wash, and the pants have side pockets and a drawstring waist. The style comes in men’s, women’s, kids’ and baby sizes, and the brand offers holiday prints, like tartan and toile.

PajamaGram’s classic plaid pajamas are a go-to for families who want a traditional holiday look. Each set pairs a long-sleeve, button-front top with full-length pants, and the soft fabric is cozy enough for chilly Christmas mornings. They come in sizes for everyone from little ones to adults, and there’s even a matching option for the family dog.
