Raghu Vamsi Group, which is focused on precision aerospace and defence manufacturing, has appointed S.K. Jha, former chairman and managing director of Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd (MIDHANI) as CEO of its Advanced Materials Division.
Mr. Jha, who has more than three decades of experience in metallurgy, advanced materials, technology development and strategic manufacturing, will lead the advanced materials business, including development of an integrated nickel-based superalloy manufacturing facility Raghu Vamsi had announced in Telangana.
It will bring vacuum melting, forging, heat treatment, vacuum casting, powder metallurgy and precision forming under one roof, producing tonnes of round bars, wires, forgings, castings, tungsten carbide powders and other specialised products. Commercial production is expected to begin in January 2028, the Group said announcing plans for facility at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 recently.
Nickel-based superalloys are critical for aero engines, defence systems, spacecraft, gas turbines and nuclear power systems. The facility is central to the Group’s strategy of greater vertical integration and strengthening domestic capabilities in strategic materials.
“India has a strong opportunity to build greater self-reliance in strategic materials, particularly those critical to aerospace, defence and space. Raghu Vamsi has the ambition and investment to build this capability at scale. I look forward to bringing my experience to the programme...” Mr. Jha said on Monday in a release on his appointment.
“Dr. Jha brings deep experience across some of the country’s most important programmes. We are pleased to have him lead this important business,” Raghu Vamsi Group founder and MD Vamsi Vikas Ganesula said.
