The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development has announced its intention to award a K4.59 billion contract for the supply and delivery of 765 metric tonnes of maize seed under the 2026/27 Farm Inputs Programme (FISP).

According to a notice dated 17 October 2026, Renaissance Agriculture and Food Systems emerged as the successful bidder for Lot 2 of tender number 019/NCB/FISP/G/2026-2027/02.
The proposed award was published in accordance with Section 70(1) of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act, 2025.
The ministry has given unsuccessful bidders until 31 October 2026 to lodge formal objections with the Solicitor General and Secretary for Justice if they have grounds to challenge the award.
The notice was authorised by the chairperson of the ministry’s Internal Procurement and Disposal of Assets Committee.
FISP is the government’s flagship agricultural subsidy programme, through which smallholder farmers access subsidised fertiliser and seed to boost crop production and strengthen household food security.
The supply of maize seed forms a key component of the programme, with government relying on the initiative to support national food production and improve agricultural productivity.
