Jigawa State governor, Mallam Umar Namadi, has approved ₦1.478 billion for constituency projects across the state, with the construction of perimeter fences around graveyards among the key interventions approved for the 30 state constituencies.
Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Dahiru Musa, disclosed this while announcing the decisions of the state executive council meeting, presided over by the governor.
The contracts, valued at ₦1,478,046,426.30, are designed to address identified development needs in communities in the state through the provision, rehabilitation and upgrading of essential infrastructure and public facilities.
Apart from the construction of perimeter walls around graveyards, the projects cover the construction, completion and renovation of Juma’at and daily prayer mosques, as well as the construction and renovation of houses belonging to district and village heads.
Other components of the constituency projects include interlocking works, the installation of solar energy systems, the procurement of generating sets, and the supply and installation of prayer carpets.

The projects are expected to address community-level priorities, particularly those relating to religious institutions, traditional leadership structures and other public facilities.
