The OKC Thunder announced that Otega Oweh underwent a successful procedure Wednesday to address a ruptured right Achilles tendon. He will miss the entire 2026-27 NBA season.
Oweh sustained the injury during the overtime period of OKC’s 114-112 preseason home win over Indiana on Tuesday. The procedure was performed by Dr. Martin O’Malley at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York with Thunder medical personnel present.
OKC selected Oweh with the No. 41 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and later signed him to a two-way contract. He spent the first two seasons of his college career at Oklahoma before spending another two seasons at Kentucky.
It’s an unfortunate setback for Oweh, who also sustained a left foot injury during OKC’s first Summer League game this offseason. He missed the team’s remaining seven contests before making his return for preseason play.
