ISLAMABAD, Oct 11 (APP):The International Day of the Girl Child is observed worldwide on October 11 every year to highlight the rights, challenges and potential of girls and to promote equal opportunities for their education, health, safety and empowerment.
The day serves as a reminder that every girl deserves access to quality education, healthcare, protection from violence and discrimination, and equal opportunities to participate in social, economic and political life.
Despite progress in promoting girls’ rights, millions of girls around the world continue to face challenges, including child marriage, gender-based violence, poverty, school dropouts and limited access to healthcare.
On this occasion, governments, civil society organisations and human rights advocates renew their commitment to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for girls.
Empowering girls through education, skills development and equal opportunities is essential for building a more just, peaceful and prosperous society. Protecting their rights and ensuring their meaningful participation in decision-making remain crucial to achieving gender equality and sustainable development.
