Actress and content creator Stephanie Sandows has sparked a heartfelt conversation online after posting a vulnerable TikTok video opening up about how difficult she finds abstinence following her divorce. Speaking directly to camera in a selfie-style clip filmed at home, Sandows addressed fellow Christian believers, asking how they stay on the right path and whether she is alone in her struggle.
"How are you doing? Cause I'm not okay," she said plainly, admitting she had not expected life after marriage to feel harder than the season before it. "I don't know why abstinence before marriage and abstinence after marriage are like worlds apart," she added.
Stephanie gets candid
In the TikTok, she was careful to ask that only practising, God-fearing Christians engage with her question, specifically requesting no "worldly advice." She acknowledged the practical steps she already takes, including being selective about what she watches, noting she sticks to low-key K-dramas, and being mindful of the music she listens to. Despite all of that, she said her body still responds to ordinary moments like people holding hands or romantic lyrics.
"What, like two people do this and then my body does its own thing," she said, visibly exasperated. "I cannot be the only one who doesn't feel in control of my bodily functions."
Sandows, who was previously married to actor Hungani Ndlovu, announced their split in June 2025 after six years of marriage. The two share a daughter named Rhulani, and their separation was described as amicable. Since then, Sandows has been open about her healing journey, previously sharing on her YouTube show, Friendship Frequency, that she has leaned on her faith through her lowest moments.
Believers react to Stephanie's honesty
The video drew a wave of solidarity and personal stories from viewers. Here is what some of them had to say:
@Mbali Ntusana:
"Honestly, this isn't talked about enough. I've never been married, but I think as believers we need to open up about such because the next thing you see is judgement from the very brothers and sisters in Christ we have, yet there's no room created for us to be vulnerable about these things."
@Sibanda Philisani:
"You definitely aren't alone, sis... the older you get - ovulation is a weapon fashioned against us, true. The prayers you make at that time, yoooooo Jehova, God hears things, shem. But my advice is to find a community or tribe that is on the same path. I can recommend THE SEXLESS TRIBE; try checking the page..."
@Bridgette:
"It's soooo hard, and I thought I was the only one struggling with this. I feel seen 🤣"
@Cleo🌹:
"Sjoe, I'm not married, but I'm doing it; it's been 2 years now, and it's very, very difficult, and most people don't understand😭"
@Circuit Sage: "Fast and pray."
