ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Fazal ur Rehman has rejected claims linking him to the possible arrest of the chief minister, calling such remarks irresponsible, ARY News reported.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament House, Fazal ur Rehman was asked about reports suggesting he had a role in the chief minister’s arrest.
“Such baseless statements should not be made. This is a time to fulfil our responsibilities,” he said, urging senior journalists to act more responsibly.
Fazal ur Rehman said a meeting with the opposition was scheduled to take place shortly. He added that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had fulfilled the commitment it had made.
The JUI-F chief said the party would announce its future course of action after a meeting of its Central Majlis-e-Shura.
When asked about the government’s repeated failure to meet expectations, Fazal ur Rehman replied that the question should be directed to the government.
Meanwhile, Senator Faisal Vawda declared that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had fallen apart and its political show was over, urging the party’s leaders to form a new political party or join another party to serve the country.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, Vawda criticised the PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and discussed the recent political developments surrounding the province, including the imposition of Governor’s Rule and an emergency.
“PTI has now scattered, and the show is over,” Vawda said, urging party leaders to fulfil their responsibilities by joining other political platforms or forming a new party.
He acknowledged that not everyone in the PTI was at fault, saying the party also had patriotic people who could contribute to the country.
Vawda alleged that the arrests of PTI leaders were part of a coordinated arrangement following the emergency.
