The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has introduced a digital attestation system in Pakistan that will allow citizens to get their documents verified online without visiting its offices in routine cases.
Under the new system, applicants can submit online requests for general and apostille attestation. After completing the required procedures and paying the prescribed fee, they will receive an electronic attestation certificate via email.
According to a ministry circular dated October 14, 2026, the new system became operational on October 12. The facility is available through the ministry’s headquarters in Islamabad and its liaison offices in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, and Gujrat.

The digital system aims to simplify the document attestation process and reduce the need for applicants to visit government offices in person. Citizens will be able to complete routine attestation procedures online, saving time and travel expenses.
However, applicants may still need to appear in person in certain cases, depending on the nature of their applications and the requirements of the attestation process.
The ministry said the initiative aims to make document attestation more convenient, transparent, and efficient. It will also help citizens avoid unnecessary travel and repeated visits to government offices.
Citizens seeking digital attestation services can visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official portal at https://portal-attestation.mofa.gov.pk to submit their applications and follow the prescribed procedure.
The introduction of the digital system is also part of the government’s efforts to improve public services through digital solutions. By moving routine attestation procedures online, the ministry aims to make the process more accessible for citizens across Pakistan.
