The Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, has called on well-meaning individuals and organisations to partner with the institution to improve healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
Ize-Iyamu made the appeal when Eze Chukwudi, a philanthropist and businessman, donated 30 hospital beds to the teaching hospital in Benin City.
She said such partnerships would help address critical infrastructure needs and complement government efforts to provide quality healthcare to Nigerians.
The CMD expressed gratitude to Chukwudi for his generosity, noting that the donation would enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide quality healthcare to patients.
The items donated to the hospital included 30 hospital bed frames, 30 Mackintosh mattresses and 30 drip stands.

According to her, on behalf of the management and staff of UBTH, she expressed deep appreciation to the donor for his generous contribution.
“Your timely support came as a pleasant surprise, significantly alleviating a pressing need within our facility. This contribution directly enhances our capacity to provide quality healthcare to Nigerians, particularly patients who seek care here.
“Your motivation, stemming from personal observation during your aunt’s hospitalisation at our Accident and Emergency Unit, truly demonstrates your commitment to our hospital.
“We deeply appreciate your partnership and call on other well-meaning individuals to emulate your kindness in supporting the government and UBTH to improve healthcare delivery,” she said.
Speaking during the donation, Chukwudi explained that his motivation stemmed from a personal experience at the UBTH Accident and Emergency Unit when his aunt was hospitalised.
He said the experience inspired him to support vulnerable patients receiving treatment at the hospital.
