Indian student leader Neha Bora commented that the historic mass movement of Bangladeshi students has inspired the youth movement against the Narendra Modi government in India. According to her, the student movement in Bangladesh has had a significant impact on the widespread Gen-Z movement in India.
Neha Bora, president of the All India Students’ Association (AISA), made these remarks in a video message delivered on Wednesday (October 14) marking the Sixth National Conference of the Bangladesh Socialist Students’ Front. The video message was published on the Students’ Front’s official Facebook page.
Congratulating the protesting students of Bangladesh, Neha Bora stated that the Gen-Z movement currently spreading in India originated in Bangladesh. She also expressed gratitude to the youth of Bangladesh for guiding the young Indians protesting against the Modi government.
Neha Bora further added that there are similarities between the struggle of youth against religious fundamentalism in Bangladesh and the ongoing youth movement in India. According to her, the experiences of struggle of the youth in both countries are important for each other.
The student leader also expressed concern about attempts to hinder the practice of free thought in Bangladeshi universities. She noted that there are some similarities between the situation in Bangladeshi universities and the tendency to exert political influence on India’s education system.
In this situation, Neha Bora called for strengthening mutual solidarity among the youth of South Asia. According to her, a beautiful future can only be built through the united efforts of the region’s youth.
