LAFC captain Son Heung-min single-handedly rescued his side, collecting all three attacking contributions in a 3-1 home win.
LAFC beat Austin 3-1 in a 2026 Major League Soccer regular-season home game at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on the 14th, local time. The victory ended a four-match winless run of two draws and two losses, lifting the club to 45 points and sixth place in the Western Conference.
Son was again the difference-maker. He set up goals for Denis Bouanga in the 52nd and 67th minutes before scoring himself in the 72nd to seal the win. With one goal and two assists, Son now has 15 assists this season, moving ahead of Lionel Messi of Inter Miami, who has 14, and other rivals to lead the league in that category. The goal was his seventh in MLS this season and his ninth in official competition, including two in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
The result carries more weight than a single win. It was LAFC's first victory in five matches and the first since Xavi Tamarit was named interim manager.
With momentum restored, LAFC next face New York City FC at Citi Field in New York on the 18th, Korea time.
