CD Projekt Red is readying a new content drop based on the newly released season of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime. Meanwhile, modders continue to do their thing as well, and a new project, spotted by PCGamesN, brings a taste of Grand Theft Auto VI to Night City.
A NexusMods user by the name of charlotte27k has posted two mods, the first of which adds some of the design elements that’re a foundational part of playing GTA. It adds a new HUD that includes a “borderless mini-map in the bottom-left corner, a GPS navigation panel, a wanted level indicator (stars), and weapon and ammunition information in the top-right corner.” Players will also see an informational panel appear when they get into a car.
The second mod brings a fuel system into the game, giving it a more realistic feel, similar to GTA. Each vehicle gets a gas tank, and fuel is depleted based on how fast you drive and how big the vehicle is. Once you hit empty, the engine stalls until you add more fuel into the tank.
Gas stations are available to refuel, and for an extra bit of realism, gas prices will fluctuate depending on what part of the world you’re in. These gas stations will also be an opportunity to pick up cans that will give players fuel for those longer distance trips but will be limited to just three. Moreover, there will be the option to repair a vehicle.
It’ll be interesting to see if modders can bring some of Night City to GTA 6 when Rockstar finally releases it on PC--maybe an official crossover is possible at some point.
If you want to check these mods out for yourself and have something to tide you over until GTA 6 launches on November 19, you can get the HUD mod here and the fuel system here.
