The Kuki Inpi South West Sadar Hills has issued a three-day ultimatum to halt the construction of a new road by inhabitants of Konsa village through land it claims, warning of widespread public agitation across the region if the demand is not met.

The Kuki Inpi South West Sadar Hills expressed its “strong objection and total disapproval” of the alleged attempt to construct a separate route through its land, reportedly with government assistance, bypassing the existing public thoroughfare.
Citing the prevailing ethnic sensitivities in the region, the organisation cautioned that even a minor provocation could trigger large-scale violence and disruption, urging the state government and district administration to intervene without delay.
The Kuki Inpi maintained that the existing public road remained fully accessible and functional for ordinary commuting and daily transportation, asserting that there were no restrictions on its use.
Addressing concerns over the transportation and burial of six deceased Konsakhul individuals, the organisation reaffirmed that the passage of mortal remains along public roads would remain unrestricted.
It urged that the bodies be transported through the existing public road to their designated village cemetery, while insisting that any attempt to conduct burials on land claimed by the organisation must be strictly prohibited.
The organisation called on the state government and district administration to act with complete impartiality, prudence and foresight to prevent further escalation of tensions.
Holding the authorities accountable for maintaining peace and order, the Kuki Inpi warned that any untoward incident arising from administrative inaction or oversight would be the responsibility of the district administration and the state government.
