Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo (pictured) will meet with the children's reporting corps of the Busan city children's newspaper "Big-i Doran Doran" on the afternoon of the 21st at the Future City Hall in city hall.
Five elementary school reporters will take part in the interview, representing the "Little Busan Reporting Corps." The children will ask about the mayor's role and daily duties, as well as the meaning of "Busan, the maritime capital," the changes the Arctic shipping route will bring to future generations, and Busan's tourism appeal and future outlook. Jeon plans to explain the city's vision and policies at a level children can understand.
"Big-i Doran Doran" is a quarterly launched in June last year to introduce city affairs and Busan's culture and history from a child's perspective. It is distributed four times a year to 302 elementary schools in Busan as well as major libraries and bookstores, with 160,000 copies per issue. The Little Busan Reporting Corps consists of 314 students in grades four through six at elementary schools in Busan, who carry out reporting activities including site visits and cultural experiences.
The interview will be released through "Smart Busan Living" videos and shorts on Busan Tube, the city's official YouTube channel, as well as social media content. It will also be available in the Busan city gazette, due out in November, and on the children's newspaper website.
"I will talk in a way that is easy and friendly, at a level children can understand, about the Busan they are curious about and the future of Busan as a maritime capital," Jeon said. "I will listen closely to the questions and thoughts of the children's reporting corps and communicate with them sincerely."
