Hulu is teasing what’s to come from its new series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, the first extension of the Mormon Wives franchise.
Mormon Wives: Orange County drops all eight episodes on Hulu Nov. 12, and the trailer gives a glimpse at the drama to come. Among standout moments include Aspyn Ovard opening up about her polyamorous relationship, Jen Affleck’s move to Southern California and many shaky cast dynamics.
The spinoff stars Affleck, Ovard, Ashleigh Pease, Avery Woods, Bobbi Althoff, Jordan McClanahan, Madison Bontempo, McCall DaPron and Salomé Andre. Affleck notably hails from the original Mormon Wives and explains in the teaser that she moved to SoCal after competing on season 34 of Dancing With the Stars.
The cast is made up of various mom influencers and Mormon women. Among the familiar faces are DaPron, who is the sister to original Mormon Wives star Mayci Neeley, and Althoff, host of the viral Really Good Podcast.
The logline for season one of Mormon Wives: Orange County reads, “A new group of dynamic young mothers in Orange County collide in a community where beliefs are not just their religion; they are their identity. While some defend their way of life, fighting against modernity, others embrace change, becoming a platform to disrupt the status quo. Scandals and secrets will be revealed, facades will crumble and families and friendships will change forever on both sides of the battlefield as this group of strong, game-changing influencers comes together to build their answer to #MomTok. This is The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County.”
The new franchise addition arrives amid a rocky spot for the original #MomTok, which has faced uncertainty after Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette was pulled from the air after a video surfaced of Paul throwing barstools at Mortensen from a 2023 domestic violence incident, which led to her earlier arrest.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County is produced by Jeff Jenkins Productions, in association with 3BMG and Walt Disney Television Alternative. Executive producers include Jeff Jenkins, Russell Jay-Staglik, Amanda Weinstein, Melissa Bidwell and Brandon Beck at Jeff Jenkins Productions; Ross Weintraub and Reinout Oerlemans at 3BMG; and Georgia Berger, Lisa Filipelli and Danielle Pistotnik at Select Entertainment.
