Each week during the 2026 high school football season, Kitsap Sun sports reporter Jeff Graham and a guest will try to predict the winner of each West Sound game. Just for fun, we’ll throw in picks for the Seattle Seahawks, UW and WSU and well (though Washington is on a bye this week).
There's just one more week of regular season games after this one, then playoffs and and finales for non-playoff teams begin the first Friday of November.
In Week 6 results across the county, Graham went 5-4, while 2014 Olympic High grad/former pro baseball player Shane Matheny also went 5-4 . For the season, Graham is 52-16 and the guest picker is 44-24.
This week we recruited local sports correspondent George Edgar.
Friday, Oct. 23
Bellevue Christian (2-3, 1-1 in Nisqually League 1A) at Klahowya (4-3, 1-1), 6:30 p.m.: This is a battle to determine who's the second-best team in the league behind Cascade Christian, which beat Klahowya 48-20 last weekend. Eagles are firmly alive for a 1A playoff berth. Jeff: Klahowya. George: Klahowya
Sumner (6-1, 3-1) at South Kitsap (1-6, 1-3), 7 p.m.: Coming off a 48-21 defeat to Curtis, South Kitsap now has to figure out how to deal with the defending 4A champions. All signs point toward another tough Friday for the Wolves. Jeff: Sumner. George: Sumner
Central Kitsap (1-6, 0-4 in Puget Sound League 3A) at Bellarmine (1-6, 0-4), 7 p.m.: The Cougars' offense has only managed 15 total points the past four games. Seems like a good opportunity to get going against the Lions, whose lone win came against South Kitsap (16-9) in Week 2. Jeff: Central Kitsap. George: Central Kitsap
North Kitsap (6-1, 4-1 in Olympic League 2A) at Port Angeles (0-7, 0-5), 7 p.m.: Beating Olympic in Week 7 likely clinched the Vikings at least a share of the league title. After facing the winless Roughriders, North Kitsap will host Kingston to close out the regular season in Week 9. Jeff: North Kitsap. George: North Kitsap
Olympic (5-2, 4-1 in Olympic League 2A) at North Mason (5-2, 4-1 in Olympic League 2A), 7 p.m.: Right now, the Trojans and Bulldogs are tied with North Kitsap for first place in the league standings, but that changes Friday. Olympic claimed a share of the league title in 2024 and won it outright in 2025, while North Mason hasn't captured a league title since earning a piece of the Nisqually League crown in 1982. Jeff: North Mason. George: Olympic
Kingston (4-3, 2-3 in Olympic League 2A) at Bremerton (4-3, 3-2 in Olympic League 2A), 7 p.m.: Five Olympic League teams make the playoffs, meaning this game is probably must-win for the Buccaneers and Knights. Bremerton has won seven consecutive matchups between the two, last losing to Kingston in 2015: Jeff: Bremerton. George: Bremerton
Bainbridge (4-3, 3-2 in Olympic League 2A) at Sequim (0-7, 0-5), 7 p.m.: The Spartans have scored 110 points the past two games and shouldn't have any issues finding the end zone this Friday. Right now, Bainbridge has the edge for fourth place in the standings after the Spartans topped Bremerton in Week 7. Jeff: Bainbridge. George: Bainbridge
Saturday, Oct. 24
Boise State (5-1) at Washington State (1-6), 3 p.m.: The Cougars finally found some answers on offense after changing quarterbacks in last week's 48-30 loss to Oregon State. They'll probably need plenty of points again this weekend. Jeff: Boise State. George: Boise State
Sunday, Oct. 25
Kansas City (5-0) at Seattle (3-3), 5:20 p.m.: Add uneven quarterback play to the list of questions for the Seahawks with the undefeated Chiefs and Kenneth Walker III, who left Seattle in the offseason, coming to town for the Sunday night game. Can the defending Super Bowl champs really be looking at a losing record through seven weeks? Jeff: Chiefs. George: Seahawks
