HiBy has unveiled the RS2 II, a portable digital audio player with a R-2R DAC, quad OPA1622 amps, high-resolution music playback, and the ability to drive balanced and unbalanced wired headphones.
HiBy has launched the RS2 II digital audio player (DAP) targeting high-resolution music enthusiasts who want a petite device that can be easily carried about.
The HiBy RS2 II utilizes an R-2R DAC coupled with quad OPA1622 high-fidelity headphone amplifiers that are capable of driving high-impedance headphones through the 3.5 mm stereo and 4.4 mm balanced headphone jacks.
The DAP provides a maximum of 172.5 mW of power at a maximum of 2.3 Vrms for 3.5 mm headphones and 630 mW of power at a maximum of 4.5 Vrms for 4.4 mm headphones. The HiBy has a frequency response range of 20 Hz to 40 kHz with a THD of 0.0008%, a dynamic range of 105 dB, and an SNR of 120 dB with balanced headphones.
For integration with other audio gear, the RS2 II can be used as a USB-C DAC with laptops. It also supports coaxial digital and line-out analog outputs, but does not have Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity.
The RS2 II supports a wide range of common audio file formats, including MP3, AAC, FLAC, WAV, DSF, and OPUS, with support for DSD256, MQA 8x, and 32-bit 384 kHz PCM audio streams. Two microSD card slots allow users to store thousands of songs on cards up to 2 TB in size each.
The DAP run the Linux-based HiBy OS, which is controlled through a 3.55-inch 480 x 800 pixel LCD touchscreen. Users can adjust its nuanced audio controls, such as sibilance and note thickness, not found on most other DAPs.
The HiBy portable player measures 3.62 x 2.44 x 0.73 in. (91.95 x 62.05 x 18.6 mm) and weighs 5.5 oz. (156 g) for the green-colored aluminum model or 8.5 oz. (240 g) for the gold-colored brass model. The 3,500 mAh battery has a runtime of up to 8 hours driving balanced headphones and charges using a 5V 2A USB-C power source.
Interested readers can pick up a HiBy RS2 II for $439 for the standard green-colored model or $549 for the limited-edition gold-colored model (500 units only) from the HiBy website today or soon from the HiBy store on Amazon.
