Overview:
Instamart has brought back its Quick India Movement sale with discounts up to 90% across electronics, appliances, beauty, and essentials.
The 2025 debut showed strong early demand for premium electronics, not just groceries, pointing to a shift in how shoppers use quick commerce.
The real test now is whether festive discounts turn into repeat purchases once the sale ends.
Swiggy Instamart has brought back its flagship sale event, Quick India Movement, ahead of the festive season, and this time the lineup includes iPhones, MacBooks, and premium appliances alongside the usual grocery deals. The sale runs on both the Instamart and Swiggy apps, offering discounts of up to 90% across electronics, laptops, home appliances, beauty products, toys, and everyday essentials.
Shoppers can pick up an iPhone 17 Pro 256GB at Rs. 1,19,999, a Samsung smartphone for Rs. 10,999, or a MacBook starting at Rs. 66,900, with HDFC Bank credit card users saving an extra Rs. 5,500 on select items. Instamart is testing whether rapid delivery can attract planned purchases that customers have traditionally made through larger online marketplaces.
What the First Edition Revealed
The Quick India Movement sale isn't new. It first launched in September 2025, and the early numbers were hard to ignore. Traffic rose fivefold within hours of launch, with some deliveries completed in as little as 60 seconds in several cities.
The categories that saw the sharpest reported increases say more than the traffic figure alone. Phone orders climbed nearly 20-fold within the first two hours, earbud sales rose 30-fold, and demand for large appliances like mixer grinders and gas stoves jumped 50-fold.
Premium electronics and household staples moved together, and that combination is the clearest sign that quick commerce buyers are not shopping only out of urgency anymore. Still, one sale's opening hours reflect strong interest, not proof that shopping habits have changed for good.
Why Instamart Wants to Move Beyond Groceries
Quick commerce built its name on convenience: forgotten milk, a last-minute charger, and snacks before guests arrive. Selling iPhones and MacBooks through the same 10-15 minute delivery promise is a different kind of bet.
It only works if people start treating quick commerce as a planned shopping channel, not just an emergency one. Instamart's own year-end report for 2025 pointed the same way.
The company said quick commerce had moved past emergency grocery runs into everyday life, with gold orders rising over 400% around Dhanteras that year compared with 2024, and smaller cities driving a growing share of demand.
That figure describes Instamart's full-year 2025 performance, not the current sale, but it shows the direction the business has been moving in.
The Business Logic Behind the Push
The timing lines up with Instamart's broader growth story. The company's gross order value reached Rs. 7,022 crore for the quarter ended September 2025, up 108% from the year before, and the first Quick India Movement sale launched in that same quarter.
Gross order value measures the worth of goods sold on the platform, not what Swiggy earns after costs, so the figure reflects scale rather than profit. Even so, the direction is clear enough to explain why the sale has returned bigger this year.
Three Questions That Will Decide the Outcome
Stocking laptops and appliances is a different challenge from stocking milk and snacks. Groceries sell fast and predictably. Electronics don't, and holding that kind of inventory close to customers without it sitting unsold for weeks requires a different kind of planning.
A sale-week spike also doesn't guarantee a steady customer. What matters is what happens after the discounts disappear: whether people come back, what they spend on average, and what Instamart keeps after paying for fast delivery.
Trust matters more with expensive items too. A customer buying ghee doesn't think twice. A customer buying a phone wants clarity on warranty, authenticity, and what happens if something goes wrong. That confidence has to exist before checkout, not after.

What Shoppers Should Keep in Mind
Big discounts are worth a second look before buying. Checking the seller details and warranty terms on electronics, confirming the original price behind a "90% off" tag, and remembering that availability shifts by city and seller all help avoid disappointment once the excitement of fast delivery wears off.

Where This Is Headed
The current sale already stretches into cookware, dinnerware, and home décor, alongside electronics and appliances, showing Instamart's appetite for this format keeps growing. The numbers worth watching from here are repeat purchases, spending outside sale periods, and whether this year's wider catalogue holds up once the discounts end. That, more than launch-day traffic, will show whether the bet is working.
Final Thought
Quick commerce has spent years proving it can deliver fast. The next few festive cycles will show whether it can also be trusted with the kind of purchases people used to plan for, not just the ones they forgot.

FAQs
1. What is Instamart's Quick India Movement sale?
It is Instamart's annual festive sale offering discounts of up to 90% on electronics, laptops, appliances, beauty products, toys and everyday essentials, available on the Instamart and Swiggy apps.
2. How is the 2026 sale different from the 2025 debut?
The core format is similar, but the 2026 edition carries a wider product catalogue, including premium brands like Apple and Samsung, and extends further into home and kitchen categories such as cookware and décor.
3. Can I actually buy expensive items like iPhones or laptops through quick commerce?
Yes. Instamart has priced items like the iPhone 17 Pro and MacBooks within the sale, and the 2025 edition showed phone orders rising sharply in the first hours, though buyers should still verify warranty and seller details before purchasing.
4. Are the discounts genuine, or inflated before the sale?
Discounts are advertised against listed MRPs, but these can vary by seller and location. It's worth comparing the sale price against the product's usual market price before buying.
5. Does this sale prove quick commerce can replace regular online shopping?
Not yet. It shows strong interest during a discount event, but the real test is whether customers keep buying these categories at full price after the sale ends.
