Andrea Lee had been waiting to win a real car.
Her last hole-in-one came at a pro-am in Shanghai, and the prize was a toy Buick. On Friday at the BMW Ladies Championship, she got an upgrade. Lee holed a 9-iron from 122 yards at the par-3 8th at Pine Beach Golf Links in Haenam, South Korea.
“I was like, I don’t want this. I want the real thing,” Lee said of the toy, according to the LPGA. “So I got the real thing today.”
122 yards left her in between clubs. A stock pitching wedge might come up short, and a 9-iron could go over the green due to the wind behind. She went with the 9 and choked up to take some distance off. The ball landed, bounced once, hit the flagstick and disappeared. The gallery stayed silent. Lee had to turn to her caddie to ask whether it had dropped.
“It was like the most quiet hole-in-one I’ve ever hit,” she said.
Lee posted 66 on the day, with six birdies and two bogeys to go with the ace. After a 78 on Thursday, she reached the halfway point at even par in a tie for 64th.
The ace sent $20,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. CME Group makes that gift through its Cares Challenge whenever a player holes out from the tee on tour this year. Lee delivered the 23rd of 2026, bringing this season's donations to $460,000.
