KARACHI: Three alleged terrorists belonging to the defunct Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have been arrested from the Lasbela roundabout and Purani Sabzi Mandi areas of Karachi in two joint operations conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and a federal intelligence agency, ARY News reported.
Two hand grenades and an IED were also recovered from the possession of the arrested suspects.
In the first operation, two alleged terrorists of the banned BLA outfit—identified as Sajid Yousuf and Shaukat Ali—were arrested, and two hand grenades were recovered from them.
The CTD spokesman said the accused were involved in targeted killings and attacks on Frontier Corps (FC) vehicles. They were in constant contact with their commander and were planning to attack sensitive locations and security organizations, the spokesman added.
In the second operation, a suspect with alleged links to the defunct TTP was arrested, according to the CTD spokesman. A locally manufactured IED was recovered from the possession of the suspect, identified as Dad Muhammad alias Adil.
The arrested suspect received training in Afghanistan and was allegedly planning an attack on sensitive sites, the spokesman said.
The CTD has registered three cases against the arrested terrorists.
