Pre-orders start next week.
Analogue - creator of various fancy retro-focused game consoles - has detailed its newly announced Mega Sg+ and Super Nt+: revised editions of its earlier Mega Sg and Super Nt machines, capable of playing original Sega and Nintendo cartridges with modern advancements.
Analogue's first stab at the Super Nt launched in 2018, while the Mega Sg arrived one year later. Both machines' imminent upgrades feature, as per the company's announcement, "an FPGA designed in-house from scratch and backed by more than a decade of development. Rock solid. No emulation. Purpose-built 1080p for 2D gaming. Zero lag. Total accuracy."
As for compatibility, the Mega SG+ is said to be 100 percent compatible "with the 2,180+ Sega Genesis, Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear, Mycard Adapter, Mark III/SG1000 game cartridge library", while the Super Nt+ is compatible with over 2,200 Super Nintendo and Super Famicom games.
Both upgraded consoles, which sport a redesigned "industrial" look, support wireless controllers via bluetooth and 2.4GHz connectivity. Additionally, users can hot-swap cartridges without having to power down the console - they simply need to quit their current game and switch them out. Furthermore, it's possible to power the consoles on and off using a controller now - and the required USB-C power supply and cable are included in the box.
If your interested is piqued, you'll be able to pre-order them on the 19th October via the Analogue website, with consoles shipping this December. The Mega SG+ is available for $219.99 in three variants - Japan, EU, and US - while the $219.99 Super Nt+ comes in Classic, SF, and Black.
