Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter for its Creators Issue, published on 21 October, the 22-year-old was asked point-blank whether the allegations against her parents, Marc and Heidi D'Amelio, were accurate.
"No, they're not true. I wouldn't say that they stole my money," she said, before pausing and adding carefully: "I think we did a lot of things as a family."
Where did the rumours begin?
The controversy first erupted in May 2026 after gossip account DeuxMoi posted an unverified claim suggesting Charli had discovered large sums being transferred out of accounts set up during the period when her parents managed her career.
The post alleged the funds, intended for her savings, had been moved over an extended period. The claims were never substantiated.
Marc D'Amelio responded at the time by pushing back in the comments of the DeuxMoi post, writing:
"This is not true. We love Charli, but she is being manipulated and I have the receipts."
He later told TMZ that precautions had always been in place:
"Absolutely not. She's always had a team in place lawyers, business manager, manager, agent. We purposely set it up that way."
He also confirmed he now communicates with his daughter "through her lawyer."
Charli opens up on finances and family rift
In the same interview, Charli shed light on how long she had been kept at a distance from her own financial affairs.
Despite working full-time from the age of 15, she only began getting hands-on with her finances around the age of 21.
"There are not a lot of rules and regulations when it comes to people who do what I do," she said.
"I'm very fortunate to be able to be living the life that I am, but I've also been working nonstop since I was 15, so I should have stuff to show for it."
Charli also confirmed she has now split professionally from the wider D'Amelio family brand. The family had signed with UTA together in 2020 after relocating to Los Angeles, but Charli began distancing herself from the family's shared business ventures in March 2025.
She has since unfollowed both her parents and her sister Dixie on Instagram. On her bond with Dixie, she was measured but affectionate:
"I mean, that's my sister. I'm going to love her till the day I die. But there are times where you're figuring stuff out."
