The government will take initiatives to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent talented students from poor families from pursuing higher education, even at foreign universities, said Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury.
He said the government was prioritising healthcare and education for children from poor families. As part of these efforts, the Sramik Kalyan Foundation provided around Tk 48 lakh in financial assistance in the Sylhet region on Saturday.
He added that the foundation also provided financial assistance nationwide for the medical treatment of workers. Low-income people, including rickshaw pullers, were also covered by such support, he made the remarks at an educational assistance programme held at the Sylhet Press Club on Saturday.
