Commander National Strategic Command General Syed Aamer Raza on Saturday warned that any miscalculation in the region will be met with a response beyond the adversary’s imagination, stressing that there is no room for war in a nuclearised environment.
Addressing the passing-out parade at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA), Kakul, he said Pakistan would not tolerate cross-border aggression or any violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Let no adversary mistake our commitment to peace as weakness nor misinterpret our restraint as a lack of resolve,” he said, adding that the armed forces were prepared to defend every inch of the country.
Gen Aamer said Pakistan remained a peace-loving nation that prioritised restraint, dialogue and regional stability. However, he said, the country would respond firmly to aggression.
The development comes a day after Pakistan rejected Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks against the country, saying India should learn from last year’s events and that Islamabad was prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan, speaking at the weekly briefing on Friday, said Pakistan would respond fully to any aggression.
He said India should draw lessons from the events of last year, adding that Pakistan remained prepared to respond to any threat to its security.
Singh had said that “any future terrorist act originating from Pakistan would draw a stronger response”.
Referring to regional developments, the strategic commander said Pakistan’s strategic importance had grown amid changing global geopolitics and heightened conflict in the Middle East. He cited Pakistan’s role in facilitating regional stability through the Islamabad Accord and said the Makkah Accord reflected the same vision of lasting peace.
He also expressed support for the Palestinian people, condemning violence against civilians and the destruction of civilian infrastructure. He said the people and government of Pakistan would continue their diplomatic, moral and political support for Palestinians.
On Kashmir, Gen Aamer described it as an unfinished agenda of partition and said Pakistan would continue to support the Kashmiri people’s struggle in accordance with their aspirations and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The commander said the changing character of modern warfare, driven by the rapid development of disruptive technologies, had made traditional operational doctrines increasingly inadequate. “The Pakistan Armed Forces have undertaken a multi-domain transformation to respond to evolving threats,” he said.
Addressing the graduating cadets, he emphasised the importance of leadership, professional competence, courage, discipline and integrity. He urged them to master emerging technologies and remain alert to changing security challenges.
Gen Aamer also said that Pakistan’s adversaries were seeking to undermine national cohesion through disinformation, narrative warfare, proxy terrorism and sub-conventional tactics. He urged the cadets to remain focused on their duties and resist propaganda.
The passing-out parade was held for cadets of the 154th Pakistan Military Academy Long Course, 39th Technical Graduate Course, 73rd Integrated Course and 28th Lady Cadet Course. Cadets from Bangladesh, Iraq, the Maldives, Palestine, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan and Yemen also graduated from the academy.
