A driver heartlessly dumped a highly intoxicated woman on a Santa Clarita street last week in a shocking incident caught on video.
Doorbell camera footage video shows the male suspect pulling over in a white pickup before walking to the other side of the vehicle in the city’s Saugus neighborhood last Friday. He then returns to the driver’s side and speeds away, leaving the woman alone and slumped over in the dark around 8:24 p.m.
The woman, who appeared limp and unconscious, was discovered by two local high school students who called for help. First responders arrived at the scene near Centurion Park in Saugus around 9:50 p.m. and transported her to the hospital, according to Fox 11.
“Deputies identified the woman involved and are conducting follow-up inquiries to gather additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident and determine whether any criminal activity occurred involving the male individual seen in the video,” the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said in a statement.
The homeowner who captured the incident on video said he was aghast at the driver’s actions.
“I thought that was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. She was unconscious and unresponsive,” Dan Villa told Fox 11.
“No one deserves to be put on the side of the road like that. I don’t care if it’s an argument or anything like that. No one deserves that.”
It’s unclear if the suspect has been identified or if criminal charges have been filed.
Retired LAPD Detective Moses Castillo told Fox 11 that he believes investigators should take into consideration whether a sexual assault or kidnapping occurred. He believes any normal person would have taken the woman to a hospital.
“When you look at this video, it’s very disturbing that a man would just dump a female on the street,” Castillo said.
