Selena Gomez revealed years of vaping has changed the sound of her voice.
“I’m not going to be able to change my voice,” she candidly said in an Instagram Stories video Sunday. “I vaped nicotine a lot and nicotine is so hard to quit.”
The singer warned others that if they are thinking up picking up the habit, “it’s just not worth it.”
“It’s so stupid and it’s changed my voice. So if you you guys don’t like listening to my voice, that’s totally understandable, I don’t mind. Just don’t listen to it,” she laughed.
“But I am really excited because I stopped [vaping] and I just hope I can keep it up. It’s really hard but I know if you are going through something, you can get through it too,” she concluded.
This isn’t the first time Gomez, 34, has addressed the dramatic change in her voice.
In December 2025, the pop star attributed her vocal change to throat swelling.
“I get weird. My throat kind of swells inside sometimes. That’s all. That’s good,” she said during an Instagram Live at the time.
Gomez has been candid about her ongoing health struggles — specifically her battle with Lupus.
The chronic autoimmune disease can cause swelling and irritation, also known as inflammation, that may affect joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Gomez has experienced other side effects from her Lupus battle, including weight fluctuation triggered by her treatment.
“My weight would constantly fluctuate because I would be on certain medications,” the actress shared during an episode of the 2023 Apple TV+ series “Dear…”
“And obviously, people just ran with it… It was like they couldn’t wait to find a thing to bring me down. I was being shamed for gaining weight because of my lupus.”
The former Disney Channel star has also been open about her bipolar disorder and how she navigates it in her marriage to Benny Blanco.
“It is helpful to have a partner that will understand where maybe the temperature is at, and meet you where you are, and then you kind of gradually understand what’s happening,” she gushed during a March episode of her husband’s “Friends Keep Secrets” podcast.
