As expected, Texas EDGE Colin Simmons is out for the Longhorns game against Ole Miss. But now his backup Richard Wesley is out as well. To make matters worse, starting running back Hollywood Smothers is doubtful when UT hosts the Rebels.
It's never a good time to be without your best player, but when the game is as important as Saturday night's matchup with Mississippi, it will make the challenge even tougher. With Wesley out too, defensive coordinator Will Muschamp will have a huge hole to fill in the lineup. Especially since the Rebels have arguably the best quarterback in the nation under center in Trinidad Chambliss. The news isn't much better for the struggling Longhorns offense. Smothers is reportedly dealing with an upper body injury and is listed as doubtful on the official SEC Injury Report. The good news is UT has been running back by committee this year, so Raleek Brown and Derrek Cooper will need to step up for coach Steve Sarkisian.
