The makers of Prabhas’ Fauzi unveiled the film’s first-look teaser on Friday, coinciding with the actor’s 47th birthday. Prabhas plays an Indian spy in the Azad Hind Force during the freedom struggle who is determined to protect his motherland.
The two-minute-31-second-long video opens with a conversation between Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose (played by Subodh Bhave) and Adolf Hitler, in which Bose seeks Germany’s support to free India from British rule.
When Hitler refuses to help, Bose reveals that a spy named Fauzi (Prabhas) is stationed in Calcutta, silently working to protect his motherland from British rule. The scene offers a glimpse of Prabhas’ character and his role in the freedom struggle.
Directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, Fauzi is set in the 1940s and focuses on a soldier in the Azad Hind Force.
In April, photos from the sets of the film surfaced online. Raghavapudi later took to social media, urging fans not to leak any information about the film.
Fauzi will be a two-part film, with the second instalment being a prequel. It also marks Prabhas’ first collaboration with Raghavapudi.
Produced under Mythri Movie Makers, the film also stars Anupam Kher.
Fauzi is scheduled to release in theatres on December 3.
