Shillong, Oct 15: KHADC executive member in-charge Finance Seiborlang Warbah on Thursday said Rs 10 lakh has been sanctioned for repairing the MDC Hostel and the amount will be released once formalities are completed.
He was replying to a query by Mairang-Nongrang MDC Equator Nongrang, who sought to know whether any budget has been allocated for the repair and renovation of the MDC Hostel.
“Yes, from Grant No 6 Head of Account: Legislative Department D-Contingency, Repair/Maintenance of MDC Hostel of the current budget 2026-2027,” Warbah said.
Expressing concern over the unhygienic condition of the hostel, Nongrang pointed out, “The water pipes leak a lot, and there are many rats too.”
Taking note of the complaint, Warbah admitted, “I am saddened that it is like that.”
He further assured, “In the budget that we have brought for repairing the MDC Hostel, we have earmarked Rs 10 lakh. We will also send people to follow up and repair the rooms of the MDCs in that hostel. We will release the money soon for the repair after completing all the necessary formalities.”
