Majesticks co-captain delivers fresh blow after Louis Oosthuizen announcement earlier in week
Hot on the heels of former Open champion Louis Oosthuizen making a similar announcement, Ian Poulter has revealed he won’t be signing up for the proposed LIV Golf 2.0 version.
The Englishman, who is the Majesticks co-captain with Lee Westwood, announced what he described as a “tough decision” in a lengthy statement on social media.
The fresh blow for LIV on the back of Oosthuizen, the Southern Guards GC captain, quitting the circuit comes as a deadline looms for a $300m investment deal with BC Partners.

Poulter, one of the game’s most colourful characters, said he wanted to “spend more time at home with my family”and “focus on senior golf”.
In his statement, he said: “Clearly, LIV Golf has divided opinion, but to be part of the founding group that took world-class golf around the globe, showcased our great game to a new audience, built a team brand in Majesticks GC, helped innovate tournament formats and establish a leading community impact programme in Little Sticks, is something I will be forever proud of.
“Change is never easy and it's fair to say professional golf has experienced plenty of it over the last few years. But I've always believed that change can create opportunity and ultimately lead to positive outcomes.
“There will undoubtedly be more changes ahead, but I am confident the game will continue to grow, evolve, and deliver the very best for golf fans around the world.”
Spanish stars Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia have also said they have no intention of being part of LIV Golf 2.0.
