Wiper Patriotic Front leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka announced the development on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, via his official X account, describing it as "a victory for the rule of law and the people of Kenya."
Kalonzo attended the proceedings virtually from London, where a three-judge bench comprising Justices Kimaru, Okello, and M'Inoti presided over the matter.
The court declined to grant a stay of the High Court orders dated September 15, 2026, which had previously found the Safaricom shares sale to be legally invalid.
"The government's bid to suspend High Court orders nullifying the Safaricom shares sale was rejected. The message is clear: The rule of law must prevail, and no transaction involving our national assets is above constitutional scrutiny," Kalonzo said, adding that national assets belong to the people of Kenya.
Kalonzo's London engagements
Alongside his virtual court attendance, the opposition principal undertook a series of high-profile engagements in the United Kingdom.
He delivered a keynote address to the Westminster Africa Business Group at the House of Commons and separately addressed Chatham House, where he outlined the opposition's policy agenda in the lead-up to the August 10, 2027, general election.
Kalonzo serves as party leader of both the Wiper Patriotic Front and the Ukombozi Alliance and holds the position of principal within the United Alternative Government.
Closing his statement on the court outcome, Kalonzo said, "Kenya must come first. The Constitution must stand. The people must prevail."
