The Philadelphia Eagles lost in the last second to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in London. They were up by two with eight seconds left, but the Jaguars ran the ball off the kick return down the field to set up a game-winning field goal.
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni took the blame for the play calling in the final seconds of the game. It seems that his quarterback Jalen Hurts started disagreeing with Sirianni's play calling on Philly's own drive with 34 seconds of the game left. However, Hurts remained quiet and didn't argue against his coach in the moment. The quarterback wondered after the game if he should've spoken up earlier, and if the game result would've been different.
“It’s not my place, and we’re prepared—I’m prepared as a quarterback to not worry about those things,” Hurts said after Sunday's game. “So I’m honoring a play call, honoring the things that are coming in the game. When I’m up at night, yeah, I think about, ‘Man, should I have said something, or should I have took a step back and said, "Wait"?’ But ultimately, there’s a commitment to that and going out there and executing. And so this was one where it did not work in our favor.”

...
On Monday, Sirianni responded to Hurts's comment from Sunday, and he ultimately disagrees with his quarterback's thoughts above. The quarterback needs to execute the plays the coaching staff decides, so there's no need for disagreement on the field, Sirianni believes.
“Jalen’s playing,” Sirianni said. “We’re coaching and calling the plays, and Jalen’s got to go execute what we call in that moment, 100 percent. We’re not asking him to make play calls in that scenario. He’s already got enough to worry about to go out and execute. That’s where we were there in that situation.”
Once again it seems that Sirianni is making sure the blame is on him, and that Hurts doesn't need to take on some of the blame himself. Sirianni called the wrong play, and Hurts was just doing his job as a starting quarterback in the NFL. Even though they disagree with the play calling, it wasn't Hurts's fault for not speaking out. That only would've caused a riff in the locker room.
