A bunch of GTA 6 adverts have appeared across Paris and New York’s Times Square, but they’re all missing one key detail.
We’re just over a month away from the launch of GTA 6 on November 19, and Rockstar’s advertising campaign is in full swing.
Yesterday, the developer pulled the trigger on the game’s launch trailer, complete with racy shower scenes featuring protagonists Jason and Lucia. We’ve also seen big advertisements in Miami, Florida, which is where the game’s setting, Leonidas, is based on.
Now, Rockstar is pulling the trigger in a different fashion for a series of banners across the planet’s biggest cities. While they might look like the GTA 6 box art, they’ve been scrubbed of any gun references.
This was first noticed on one of the Les Mercuriales towers in Paris, France. Work on the banner was completed earlier this week, and as highlighted on Reddit, two gun references on the original artwork have been removed.
Before you write it off as a French quirk, the same censored artwork has popped up in New York’s Times Square, a bus in Chicago, and the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. You might be able to pick up ammunition in a grocery store in the US, but heaven forbid you stick a gun on a poster.

It’s unclear if this is some blanket rule when it comes to advertising regulations, or if Rockstar is just rolling out edited versions to avoid any hassle, but it’s a weird detail nonetheless.
It seems like the game’s marketing push hasn’t landed in a big way in London, or the UK generally, as of yet, but this will likely change soon, as we approach the November 19 launch date.
GTA 6 will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but a PC version is expected to arrive early next year. Beyond that, Rockstar has confirmed its next game will not take another eight years to develop.
