In the wake of the franchise’s first NBA championship in over 50 years, the New York Knicks have several potential contract extensions to address. Among the players that are up for contract extensions with the Knicks are Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart and Miles McBride. And at least in the case of McBride and his agent Mark Bartelstein, the door is not closed as far something getting done in the foreseeable future, as per Jared Schwartz of The California Post.
“No doubt he would love to get that,” Bartelstein said. “But at the end of the day, you work for the Knicks and it takes two sides to get a deal done. And if the Knicks aren’t ready to do extensions right now, then we just gotta buckle up and go have a great season. He’ll be a free agent this summer, but we’ll see. We’ve got a great relationship with [president] Leon [Rose] and the front office. We’ll see: there may be opportunities during the season, maybe in the near future. Who knows where we’ll be able to have those conversations.”
Should the Knicks and Miles McBride fail to reach a contract extension, he will hit unrestricted free agency in the offseason. The No. 36 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the former West Virginia standout is entering his sixth season in the NBA, all with the Knicks.
