Real Madrid TV have let rip at match officials and Barcelona again ahead of Sunday’s Clasico in La Liga at Camp Nou.
Barcelona are in the TV channel’s sights once more after Ref Cam footage was published which showed players asking for a VAR review of Giovani Lo Celso’s goal in the win over Betis.
The goal was subsequently ruled out due to a handball in the build-up, provoking more rage from the Spanish capital.
“Real Madrid will have to face 17 referees in El Clásico: the three on-field officials, the fourth official, the VAR and its assistant, plus the eleven Barcelona players, who are also referees,” was the response, per AS.
“Against 17 referees, it’s very difficult. Now the Barça players decide which plays are reviewed by VAR and which aren’t, because they are also referees. Now they officiate the matches. It’s scandalous.
“In any other league, this would have consequences. Sunday’s match is very complicated due to the issues we all know about.”
There was also a comparison made between La Liga and the Champions League, with both sides in European action this week.
“Now it’s time for the Champions League, the best competition in the world. We’re leaving behind the filth, Negreira, Tebas, VAR… all the bad stuff and all the corruption,” was the verdict.
“In this competition, there are no refereeing problems. Real Madrid wouldn’t have won 3-4 in Rome if that match had been played in Spain, and Barcelona, if the match against Betis had been played in Europe, would have lost.”
Barcelona host Madrid on Sunday at Camp Nou and go into the game with a 100% record in La Liga, meaning they will start the match six points clear of their bitter rivals.
