Student activists announced that law enforcement has begun raiding properties in what they describe as a targeted sweep to arrest students.

“Our fellow student, Lazar Misic, is the first to be targeted. Police are currently searching locations they claim he allegedly uses. His legal team has already intervened and confirmed that Lazar has not been taken into custody as of yet. However, they emphasized that these raids are being carried out under pretenses that, in their view, serve solely to intimidate and harass the student body,” the students said on their “Students in Blockade” profile on the X social media platform.
The students emphasized that they will not back down in the face of intimidation and will not fall for provocations.
“We will not give up the fight for a free and just society. See you at Slavija,” they said.
On Tuesday at noon, student Luka Pesic posted a video showing a group of police officers at a raft house in Belgrade’s Zemun neighborhood.
According to Pesic, students had been using the raft house over the past few weeks. When contacted by N1, Pesic said they are currently consulting with their lawyers, who will be the ones issuing any further statements.
N1 has also reached out to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) for comment. We requested confirmation on whether the police did indeed raid the raft house, who authorized the operation, and the official grounds for the intervention. A response is currently pending.
The student activists - who are running in the elections under “Student List – Students Win” electoral list - announced two days ago that they were aware the authorities were recording their meetings. They also warned that the government was planning to arrest students ahead of their final Student List campaign rally on Thursday, October 22, at Belgrade’s Slavija Square, adding that officials can try whatever they want, but they will find nothing illegal.
“We also know what they have in store for us in this final week of the election campaign. The dirtiest lies, the biggest setups, and an even harsher wave of repression against those of us who have spent the past two years taking to the streets. So let us tell them right now: go ahead and record us. Listen. Review the tapes. You won’t find a single illegal thing,” the students posted on X.

In their view, the authorities have now crossed a line by spreading rumors that the activists are allegedly planning to stage the kidnapping of one of their own in order to frame the government.
“We are not treating this as just another standard political spin. We see this as a direct threat. Because what happens if one of our fellow students goes missing tomorrow? What if they lock him up somewhere out of sight, and then turn around on national television to say, ‘Well, we told you they staged it themselves’? Where will our fellow student be then? Who will know what happened to him?” the activists asked.
“We also have information that new so-called ‘documentary films’ are being prepared to smear us on television stations with national coverage. They are planning new arrests, new threats, and new lies. Everything they have used to attack us over the past two years, they are now trying to pack into the final seven days of this campaign,” the students said.
They emphasized that they will not be frightened, silenced, or forced to back down.
“You can record every single one of our meetings, edit your smear campaigns, invent conspiracies, and threaten us with arrests. You’ve had two years to realize that none of that works on us,” the students added.
