Morocco is expanding automated baggage drop services across its airports, with Rabat-Salé Airport becoming the first destination in a nationwide rollout following an initial deployment at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport.
According to Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA), six self-service baggage drop machines have been installed at Terminal 2 of Rabat-Salé Airport for Ryanair passengers.
The technology allows travelers to deposit checked luggage independently after completing check-in procedures, using a guided, automated process.
ONDA estimates that the system could reduce baggage drop processing times by 50% to 75%, helping ease congestion and shorten airport queues.
The initiative follows an initial deployment at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport in partnership with Royal Air Maroc.
According to ONDA, the technological development now covers nearly two-thirds of passenger traffic across Morocco’s airport network, highlighting its potential for wider adoption.
The rollout forms part of broader efforts to modernize airport operations, including the gradual introduction of mobile boarding passes and the Pax Check passenger screening system.
ONDA said the expansion aims to improve baggage handling efficiency and give travelers greater independence throughout their airport journey.
