METROPOLITAN Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) led Philippine banks and securities firms in both local-currency and major foreign-currency bond market rankings by The Asset Benchmark Research.
The bank placed first in both the Local Currency Bonds and G3 Bonds categories of The Asset Benchmark Research Awards 2026, it said in a statement on Monday.
The annual awards by Asia-based financial media and research company The Asset recognize the region’s top financial institutions and market professionals in sales, research, trading, and portfolio management. The G3 Bonds category covers institutional investors active in trading debt instruments denominated in US dollars, euros, and the Japanese yen.
“The awards demonstrate the breadth of Metrobank’s fixed-income capabilities, spanning peso-denominated debt instruments and bonds issued in major global currencies,” the bank said.
Members of Metrobank’s Trust Banking Group also received individual distinctions, bolstering the bank’s position as a leading fixed-income asset manager.
Ginny Pecaña, head of Metrobank’s Investment Services Division, was named among the Philippines’ Most Astute Investors for the Local Currency Bonds category.
The bank’s Investment Execution Officers Ivy May Mamauag, Mia Santiago, and Seth Gamboa were also recognized in the Trading category for Local Currency Bonds.
Ms. Mamauag and Ms. Santiago likewise got the two highest individual rankings for the Best in Trading category of G3 Bonds.
“These awards recognize Metrobank’s commitment to the growth and development of the fixed income market in the country. We are on a mission to set higher standards of professionalism and integrity. We are honored that our efforts are recognized by The Asset,” said Fernand Antonio “Toto” A. Tansingco, Metrobank Financial Markets Sector Head.
“This achievement would not have been possible without the trust and support of our local and global customers, both institutional, and retail who choose Metrobank as their partner. It also demonstrates the expertise, discipline, and market judgment of our people, who are strongly committed to helping clients take the opportunities and navigate through changing market conditions.” — BVR
