Michael Malone and the North Carolina staff have been hard at work in terms of recruiting. While the Tar Heels turned in a solid 2026 class despite barely having any time on the recruiting trail, the focus is shifting to future classes.
North Carolina has several targets in 2027 and 2028, with offers out to some top prospects. But now, they have officially offered their first prospect in the 2029 class.
On Wednesday, North Carolina officially offered 2029 combo guard J.J. Crawford. It's his 25th offer in his recruitment, which is in the early stages.

Crawford is the son of former NBA guard Jamal Crawford, a player whom Malone coached during his time as an assistant with the New York Knicks. Having that relationship could help the Tar Heels in this recruitment. But UNC has already laid some groundwork by watching Crawford earlier this Summer.
The 6-foot-5, 175-pound Crawford hails from Seattle and plays at Rainier Beach. He's drawn interest from several big programs like Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky and Louisville, among others.
