KUALA LUMPUR: What was meant to be a joyful birthday celebration for cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Vida turned into sudden heartbreak for her daughter, Cik B, following the death of her father, Mohammad Amin Yasin.
Mohammad Amin passed away at his home in Kuala Krai, Kelantan. He was 48.
Taking to social media, Cik B—whose real name is Nur Edlynn Zamileen, 20—shared her shock over the news landing on her mother's special day.
"Today is Mama's birthday, and today I also received the news that Abah has passed away," she shared in a poignant post on Threads.
"I honestly don't know how to feel. A day that's supposed to be filled with happiness, but instead, I'm grieving. Al-Fatihah."
Social media users quickly flooded her account with messages of support and prayers for her late father.
Speaking from Jakarta, Indonesia, where she is currently on a trip with Cik B, Vida said the family is waiting for medical updates regarding her former husband's death.
"I was informed that he passed away at his home in Kuala Krai. As of now, we are still waiting for the hospital to confirm the exact cause of death," Vida told Harian Metro.
Vida, whose real name is Hasmiza Othman, married Mohammad Amin in 2000.
The couple divorced eight years later in 2008.
They had four children together: Muhammad Eddie Zuhdie, Muhammad Edrie Zikrie, Cik B, and Muhammad Eric Zaquan.
Tragedy previously struck the family in 2013 when two of their sons, Eddie Zuhdie and Edrie Zikrie, died in a fire at Vida's home in Meru Hill, Ipoh, just three days before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Mohammad Amin remarried in 2018, marrying Wan Rahimah Wan Abd Rahman.
