The controversial sending-off of Vinicius Júnior following an incident with Nathan Saliba continues to have repercussions, with key moments unfolding away from the main action. The tension on the pitch quickly spilled over into the technical area and around the fourth official.
DAZN's cameras immediately caught Marc Cucurella's reaction. The international full-back did not hesitate to approach the referee to express his disagreement with the harsh punishment handed to his teammate.
"I expect you to show a red card if anyone touches a hair on my head,"Cucurella angrily protested, referring to the reason for the sending-off. The wing-back urged the officials to apply the same standard to subsequent incidents in the match.
The Real Madrid players' outrage was clear after Díaz de Mera showed the straight red card. Several players had to step in to defuse the tension on the pitch.
Bernardo Silva himself had to pull Cucurella away to prevent further trouble with the referee. The team's anger reflects their frustration over a decisive refereeing decision.
