Greece will bring back its Sing for Greece national selection for a third edition in 2027, with Thessaloniki set to host the contest as the country begins its search for an entry for the 71st Eurovision Song Contest.
Greek public broadcaster ERT has opened submissions for prospective Eurovision songs, with interested artists and songwriters having until 1 November to submit their entries through the broadcaster’s official Sing for Greece 2027 website.
The selection format has delivered two consecutive Top 10 finishes for Greece at Eurovision. Since its introduction in 2025, Sing for Greece has selected Klavdia’s Asteromáta and Akylas’ Ferto, both of which reached the Eurovision Grand Final’s Top 10.
Klavdia finished sixth at Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, while Akylas placed tenth at the 2026 contest in Vienna, Austria.
For 2027, Greece will move its national selection to Thessaloniki. As in 2026, organisers plan to stage the competition across three nights.
Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest
Greece made its Eurovision debut in Brighton in 1974, with singer Marinella performing Krassi, Thalassa Ke t’ Agori Mou (“Wine, Sea and My Boyfriend”).
Before Greece entered the contest in its own right, Greek singers represented other participating countries. Nana Mouskouri represented Luxembourg in 1963, while Vicky Leandros represented the country in 1967 and 1972. Leandros won the 1972 contest with Après Toi (“After You”).
Greece secured its first Eurovision victory in 2005, when Helena Paparizou won in Kyiv, Ukraine, with the song My Number One.
Paparizou has since returned to the Eurovision stage as a special guest, performing at the 2021 contest in Rotterdam and the 2024 contest in Malmö.
With submissions now open, Greece will begin the process of choosing the song and performer who will represent the country at Eurovision 2027.
