The Commissioner General of the South Sudan Revenue Authority (SSRA), Rizig Dominic Samuel, has pledged to work with relevant authorities to address unauthorised checkpoints, improve transparency in transit charges, and strengthen the safety of drivers and cargo along trade routes.
Rizig made the commitment during a meeting with a delegation from the South Sudan National Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, led by its Chairperson, Losidik Lukak Lege, at the SSRA headquarters in Juba on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on challenges facing businesses and ways to improve cooperation between the authority and taxpayers.
Rizig also reaffirmed the SSRA’s commitment to improving revenue services, promoting transparent tax administration and facilitating legitimate trade.
He urged businesses to register with the authority, obtain Taxpayer Identification Numbers, accurately declare taxable activities and pay taxes on time through authorized channels.
